Between 19th-20th of May 2018, OSCAL (Open Source Conference Albania) will host the 5th edition of the annual conference dedicated to promoting open knowledge, software, and free culture in Tirana.
The conference will attract 400 participants enthusiastic about open source technology, developers, agencies, and professionals who wish to work towards achieving a more decentralised world. During the two days, participants will engage in workshops, presentations, and can request more information at dedicated infobooths on projects from Mozzila, Fedora, LibreOffice, Open Street Map, Wikipedia,, and NextCloud among others. With over 70 speakers, guests from 20 countries, and hundreds of attendants, OSCAL wishes to advance the open source movement further.
The theme of this year’s events will be ‘Open by default’, which was born out of the idea to protest the normalisation of closed platforms, and challenge their status quo.
